News and Information

In an article published Saturday August 4, 2007 in Moncton This Week, reporter Stacey Merrigan interviewed Liz McFadden. Here follows excerpts from that article.

Entrepreneur says support from community and great staff are the backbone of her success.

Liz McFadden started Co-Aide Home Care & Support Services Ltd located at (edit) 11 Leslie St Moncton four years ago in response to what she saw as a need for home care support for seniors and disabled persons and she quickly expanded into mental health and family living services.

Ever since, she and her staff have been making a difference in the lives of families ,supporting not just seniors and those with mental and physical disabilities but also families who need help with parenting grief counselling or those who have mental health issues.

“We are a health care organization”,Liz explains. “We provide support to people both in physical and mental need. We take care of seniors and do palliative care and we also work with families and mental health clients.”

The two sides of the business allow Liz and her staff to work closely with families of all kinds whether its siblings trying to aging parents in their own homes or parents keep working to strengthen the relationship with their children.

We see progress in our clients when something one of our support workers have taught them via the independent living program makes a difference in their lives she says, “It’s a good feeling”.

Now employing full and part time workers in positions ranging from hospital sitting to social work to foot care to meal preparation, Liz has found that starting a business in Moncton has been very rewarding. “Moncton is a great place for networking and people like to support their own people here .I’ve got a great team here and that’s the key. They are the backbone of the business.”

Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of the business is seeing the good she and her staff are doing every day.

Key to the company’s success is flexibility with the intake team available 24 hours a day. Liz is happy to say that clients can reach a live person when they call Co-Aide.

Every detail about the company is tailored to the individual needs of both our clients and our staff. Liz is a firm believer in flexible scheduling for her staff.
